My Take on Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier

For the tl;dr people out there I’ll just say I liked the movie and would recommend it to those that like comic movies.

Of course with any movies there’s always a few parts that make me shake my head or stifle a laugh. Cap 2 was no exception. The audience in the theater was more vocal than I am used to which made some things even funnier. I don’t want to spoil anything major. There is a minor scene though where an old woman unexpectedly starts kicking ass. It was totally possible that that she rose through the ranks of her country’s government and had once been a soldier. So I quickly whisper to my buddy and joke, “how cheesy would it be if that wasn’t her but Nick Fury in a bad wig?” Then suddenly it is revealed that the old lady is actually the Black Widow. The people around me cheer and I can’t help but shake my head.

I thought their design of Falcon was pretty cool. I don’t recall much about the original but I assumed he has real wings like Archangel. I have also been told that this movie has an effect on the story of the new Marvel TV series, Agents of [S.H.I.E.L.D.] Particularly starting with episode 17 of the first season. I don’t want to say much else about the movie in case you haven’t seen it yet. But the movie is worth seeing. I didn’t look at my watch once. I felt like the movie had a good ending with only a few minor things left for future movies. Stan Lee’s cameo made me laugh as they almost always do.

There were some cool previews before the movie started as well. Of course I got to see the newest Spider-man 2 trailer, X-men: Days of Future Past and Guardians of the Galaxy. I wasn’t a huge fan of the first [Spider-Man] movie, well the first of the newest trilogy that is. I guess because I enjoyed the first reboot with Toby McGuire. Not that I feel like only Toby can be Spider-man but I just didn’t want to see the story retold again. I would have liked to see a [Maximum Carnage] movie or something even with a new actor. I’m hoping [X-men] is going to be cool. I’m eager to see Guardians of the Galaxy mainly because I want to see how it ties into the Infinity Gauntlet if that is an inevitable movie.
