Defiance S3: Purple People Eaters?!

Yep, season 3 of Defiance features Purple People Eaters.  They are not one-eyed, one-horned, flying, purple people eaters.  There’s a new race of purple-skinned aliens called the “Omec.”  It turns out these guys were from the same solar system as the Votan and were actually around longer than the other races and had dominated the Votan…and also consumed them.  So they are similar to StarGate’s Wraiths but not a complete rip off… sure the girls have white hair and instead of a culling it is called a harvest… but the Omec are hawt.  Which fits because they like to keep Votan as sex slaves and then they’d eat them later on.

I don’t wanna get eaten but I think if I was going to get eaten, I’d hope a hot sexy alien is going to do it instead of a shark or a mountain lion. Oh and ladies, there’s plenty of male Omec to give up the goods and then devour you too!

So I really felt like this season was better than season two.  I really felt like S2 just went downhill and I was considering giving up on this show if S3 didn’t redeem itself.  I still don’t think this is a great show but I am enjoying this season and will look forward to season 4. On an unrelated note, even though the purple aliens are revealed to be carnivorous in the first episode of the season, it was not until the 12th episode that I suddenly realized, “THEY ARE PURPLE PEOPLE EATERS!”  So yeah, I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed but at least I can be proud to call myself a tool. 😉
